challenge 2: Alpe du Zwift

WHERE: Alpe du Zwift
WHO: You! Join the scheduled group ride, take on the challenge solo, organize a BaseCamp meetup, or race the BaseCamp coaching team. Everyone in BaseCamp is welcome to join the challenge!
HOW: First join the challenge in our Strava club. To complete the climb itself, participate in the scheduled group ride on January 16 or complete the workout on your own (or with friends) any time from January 15-17. You can RSVP to the challenge on our event page here.
WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE? The challenge for cycle 2 is a long tempo effort using the Alpe de Zwift climb. Compete against your previous personal best or set a first-time personal record. We won't stop you from competing against your buddies or the coaches, but the focus is having a great training day and some fun! And of course to be eligible for the prizes.
PRIZES: Anyone who completes the climb in 1:20 or less will be entered to win one of our sponsor prize packages.
GOAL: Tempo work has been a big focus this training cycle, and the Alpe de Zwift is the perfect challenge to get in an extended long tempo workout while also showing you what you're capable of doing. "I love to climb, I love to climb, I love to climb," says the sprinter-turned-capable-climber.
BASECAMP STRAVA BOARD: Keep track of the BaseCamp crew, your own progress, and your personal bests using the Strava board. Remember to give kudos!

Drafting will be less of a benefit in this challenge, but it can still be helpful for motivation and pacing.
Staying cool is very important. Use your fans!
This is a long effort, so plan your nutrition and hydration accordingly.
Make a fun playlist of background tunes to keep you energized.
