Winter 2026 Recap
What a winter! Another season of our history is complete, and this page is a small celebration of the amazing community we enjoyed and the great things we accomplished. We've made so many new friends and broadened our horizons in so many ways. Words are not enough, but we'll say them anyway: thank you for being part of our BaseCamp family!
We hope you enjoy reading some of your parting messages to each other and looking through some of the photos you shared. Thanks again for all the smiles and miles.

Tim, Namrita, Tina, Kathy and the entire Base Camp coaching team.... THANK YOU! This has been an amazing winter of growth, challenges, education and joy! I am deeply grateful to be a member!

Hey everyone, just wanted to say a big thank you for the awesome, albeit shortened, BaseCamp! With a broken frame and all, plus trying to figure out training routes here in Florence, I just decided to ride my bike and not worry about catching up on the BaseCamp training. So, I missed out on all the fun with you all the last few weeks. It’s a bummer for this BC groupie! But on the bright side, I’ve been riding my heart out, exploring a ton, and trying not to blow up my ATL and CTL. 😁

I came in discouraged. After a pretty good base season in 2025, I had a rough summer and now know I was deep in overtraining territory. At the time, I was convinced I had hit my ceiling. But there was a part of me that wasn't ready to give up, and I decided to invest in BaseCamp. I made a decision: trust the process completely. That meant actually doing FTP tests and then accepting I needed to lower my FTP for Cycle 1. It meant doing real zone 2 rides. It meant getting out of ERG mode. It meant doing every workout, even the ones that intimidated me. All of it. The change didn't happen overnight. After our second FTP test, I remember asking the coaches about FTP plateaus. Now I realize I just needed more time for the changes to bake in. By the end of Cycle 2, I was starting to believe. I was setting all-time power peaks during the challenge and the next FTP test, despite many years of training with power. Part of the BaseCamp magic was teaching me to focus holistically: on nutrition, skills, strength, rest and mindset, alongside high-quality progressive training. After crossing the line during the TT, I told Coach Jim (who was my carrot on the course) that I felt like I was finally allowing myself to really push. And he said, "I think you have more." For the first time in a long while, I actually believe it. I expected good training from BaseCamp. What surprised me was the quality and depth of the program, and the community. There is a lot of truth in “stronger together.” Knowing that hundreds of you were doing the same program was hugely motivating for me. I've said this before but I learned more about myself as a rider in these 16 weeks than in the last several years of riding. Seeing the changes, my husband has already signed up for next year. Thank you BaseCamp. You've built something really special. Till next winter!

This is my first year with Basecamp (it will not be my last). I was a “Squeaker” and somehow snuck into the Lean and Strong Bootcamp in November, during which I learned so much, not just about nutrition, but about taking time off the bike. I also got to enjoy the amazing community. During BC, I learned so much about training. While I used to race, I’ve never formally trained. I rode my biked and raced. This has been eye-opening and I’ve made gains I never thought I’d see. Not only did I learn a lot from the coaches, I enjoyed everyone’s posts and looked forward to the group workouts where we could all suffer together! I will miss BC, but I look forward to this season of racing/riding and once winter comes back around, I’ll look forward to another season of Basecamp and the wonderful community.

Big thanks to all of the wonderful coaches - Tim Cusick, Namrita Booke, Liz Inglese, Jim Pomeroy, Brian Hammond, Chaz Turmon, Tina Hart, Rebecca Rusch, and of course my personal coach Lorri Lee Lown for the wonderful experience, fun, suffering, consistency, accountability, and deep learning! Also thanks to the behind the scenes staff - Kathy Watts and Debi Martin and all of my fellow BaseCampers! You all made winter fly by!
- Dagmar B.
Thank you BC coaches and team. Had a great winter and feel ready to go outside. Have a great riding season, squirrels and all. 🚵♀️🐿️

Well, another one has come and gone, goes so fast. Thanks to the coaches for all of the knowledge, support and words of wisdom. A big thanks to the Basecamp community for the laughs, the realities, and most of all, the motivation. Knowing all of you are out there doing the work indoors or out, pushes me to do the same, even in some really crappy weather. Have a great season of training, racing, and adventure!

This was my second year with the Basecamp winter program. The first year was hard for me to guage the results due to loosing the last 4 weeks dealing with a horrible bought of pneumonia that took me months to recover from. This winter I was fully committed and stayed healthy throughout the entire program. Going in the season my endurance, leg speed and power feels better than it has in years, thanks to the process and I'm excited to be getting into some races in the near future. Thanks again for all your support and guidance.

Thanks so much for the amazing winter of training! This year felt truly spectacular. Circle has been so helpful for learning and bringing the community closer together. The coaches nailed it with education. I got so much learning out of this winter, which in part was building on previous years as I mature as an educated athlete....Huge thank yous to the coaching staff. I did most of my group rides with Tim in the morning where I learned so much and really enjoyed the company of characters. I’m excited for this summer and fall, and looking forward to returning to BaseCamp next winter. Hope you all enjoy your summer and fall!

I can't imagine a winter without Basecamp. Looking forward to my 6th year! Every year I have made great progress!

To the BaseCamp Community: Thank you. When you're racing/adventuring this weekend or any time soon:
-
When your tech fails, remember SAIL.
-
When the weather turns, remember SAIL.
-
When your legs don't have what you thought they would, remember SAIL.
And when life hands you something bigger—an injury, an illness, a personal crisis that rewrites everything—remember the skyscraper perspective. Step back. See what you've actually built. The chaos at street level organizes itself into patterns of growth, and those patterns don't disappear just because the next block looks different than you planned. I don't know yet what my next race will be, or when, or even if October stays on the calendar. But I know I'm still an athlete. I know I can still show up. And I know how to SAIL. See you out there—whenever and however that happens. And thanks again BCC.

BaseCamp is life altering (and probably added 10-15 yrs to my life!). This will begin the 4th season riding outside. Thanks to all the coaches but especially Coach Jim! There are so many ways to get out of my comfort zone! 100 miles, 6000 ft, more psycho MTB trails. Gotta soak on how much more to stretch. The first season zipping down the mountain at high speed in the rain, over rocks with riders zipping by and cars going up. Riding past bikes with wheels in pretzels…. never thought I would make it! Rest for a bit. Maybe Mount Lemmon next weekend?
- John K.
What can I say? BaseCamp coaches and community are simply THE best! The education, motivation, inclusivity and warmth from our group is without equal. There have been highs and lows in my life, like everyone else, over the past six years, but BaseCamp has always been something to look forward to. Thank you Tim, Kathy, Namrita, Tina, Rebecca, Debi and ALL the stellar coaches for another great winter training season. I have made so many virtual and real life connections and friendships from BaseCamp and here’s to many more!

Thanks for a great BaseCamp season, coaches! Unfortunately, I was sick for 4 weeks of the training this time around…and was feeling negatively about my fitness…but I went out for a ride this AM where I found myself applying everything we did & was like- aha! My fitness is really good because I did Basecamp- and generally did well with rhythm & consistency, even if I was sick twice. Doing Basecamp every winter the past several years has been an awesome regrouping & ending of one year to begin the next one- and build from there. It’s kind of like a re-cert - and then I figure out the next year from there. 😊 This year’s goals are riding stronger & sturdier at the long, scenic PA gravel events I enjoy. Really applying all the strategies we work on all winter to be steady-as-she-goes & just put in a good effort & enjoy the rides. I had such a good ride today - and thoughts popping into my head about keeping cadence high & doing most my climbing in tempo. I deviated from the exact Basecamp schedule these past several weeks bc of life & illness - but the principles are with me. Much gratitude to our coaches & community.

Thanks to all the Basecamp coaches and staff! This has been an amazing program. I appreciate all of the time and dedication that was put into it. I’ve learned a lot. This was my first year of BC and will definitely be returning. Now I look forward to working with a 1:1 coach. Another first for me. A special shout out to Brian Hammond, Lorri Lee Lown, and Chaz Turmon for doing a great job on the noon eastern group workouts.

This will be my third year of BaseCamp. I had no idea what I was getting into the first year. Like everyone else’s comments, it felt like drinking from a fire hose. The second year I had a general idea of what was going on. It helped to have the previous year as a base for all the new information coming in. I knew what to expect and had some background to add the knowledge. Now, the third year was by far the best. The key is that while the underlying information is similar, each year it is presented in a different way and there is new information added. For any person finishing their first year, know that this is a journey. You are not done. Each year the coaches find new things to add which makes each year unique. I am already getting excited about the new things that will roll out of next year.

This was my fourth year of winter BaseCamp, every year continues to add endless learning, improvement, and cherished friendships. This year was filled with highs and lows (the lows were me beating up on myself), but taking a skyscraper view it couldn’t have gone better and exactly how it should have progressed. I think I grew more this season than any of my prior. My expectations of self have come into alignment with knowing I’ve only been at this sport a little under 5 years. My “why” has undergone some rediscovery, making it so much clearer. To say I am so grateful for BaseCamp, all the coaches, team members and my 1-1 coach would be a huge understatement. I still often ask myself how did I get so lucky to find such an incredible community. BaseCamp you are world class!!!! So glad to know I will get to see so many BCr’s at all of my planned events this summer.
