Meet your Coaches
TIM CUSICK
Head Coach
​
Tim is a USAC-certified coach who has coached and guided camps for over ten years. Tim coaches pro and masters cyclists, including Amber Neben, Emma Grant, and Rebecca Rusch. Tim is also the product leader for TrainingPeaks' WKO software.

AMBER NEBEN
Coach
​
Amber is a two-time Olympian, the 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2012 U.S. national time trial champion, the 2016 and 2008 time trial world champion, the 2012 team time trial world champion, the 2017 and 2003 U.S. national road champion, and a 15-time member of the USA world championship team, winning numerous races nationally and internationally.

SCOTT MONINGER
Coach
​
Scott's amateur and professional career lasted twenty-six years. Of the 2000+ events he entered, he amassed a total of 275 wins, a record no U.S. rider has come even close to breaking. Scott was the top ranked professional rider in the U.S. twice, first with Coors Light in 1992 and again in 2005 with HealthNet-Maxxis. Scott has been coaching cyclists since 2009.

BRIG BRANDT

Brig is a USA Cycling Level 1 coach and has helped a wide range of athletes, from amateurs to elites, reach their cycling goals. He’s enjoyed riding bikes all over the world, and his favorite spots are Spain, Italy, and the Pacific Northwest.

REBECCA RUSCH
Special Guest "Queen of Stoke"

Rebecca is an adventure athlete, a 7x world champion, best-selling author, keynote speaker, activist, and Emmy award winner. She's spent over 30 years chasing firsts that have challenged and shaped her personally and professionally. She's had the good fortune to gain from so many others around her, and she enjoys sharing the most enduring lessons she's learned along the way. She'll share some of those lessons with us as a special guest in BaseCamp.

SERENA GORDON
Coach

A lover of wild spaces, fresh air, and covering distance on two wheels, Serena lives and trains in Bend, Oregon, and races for for Liv Racing | Giant Factory Off-Road Team with a focus on endurance mountain bike, gravel, and cyclocross racing. She has been on UCI podiums across a number of disciplines and understands the demands of long-distance single-day and multi-day events.

NAMRITA BROOKE
Team Nutritionist
"Boot Camp Drill Sergeant"

Dr. Namrita Brooke brings a wealth of knowledge to the BaseCamp team. Her research background includes hydration and sports drink research, and the interaction of nutrition, physical activity, and the brain. The combination of her nutrition expertise, coaching experience, and personal training and racing offers an amazing opportunity for the competitive rec racer, category cyclist, or performance triathlete to improve overall performance.

MENACHEM BRODIE
Strength Trainer

With well over 15 years of coaching experience and a sports-medicine background spanning from Emergency Medicine & Physical Therapy settings, to the NCAA Division I Strength & Conditioning setting, Menachem brings a unique and diverse skill set. Coaching since 2000, Menachem has been working with athletes in a number of settings and a broad variety of sports from basketball and cycling to CrossFit and triathlon.

With over thirty years of recreational and racing experience, Jim enjoys the potential of utilizing a power meter to make the most efficient use of his limited training time. Knowing firsthand how difficult it is to balance life’s demands, he loves sharing his knowledge and experience to help cyclists achieve their goals.
KATHY WATTS
Program Director
"The Rule Maker"

Kathy has been a USAC coach for ten years and specializes in masters athletes. She is a power coach working with WKO and TrainingPeaks analytics. She also runs the Velocious cycling camps and coaching department. She was a guide and trip organizer for over 25 years, starting out as an outdoor guide running backpacking and canoe trips with her outdoor retail shops, then working as a coach, guide, and athlete coordinator.
KATE JOHNSON

Kate is a USA Cycling Level 2 certified coach and a TrainingPeaks certified coach, and she has earned her power certification through Peaks Coaching Group. She has over ten years of experience with in-person coaching, from the ultimate beginner who's never been on a bike before to age group world champions in Ironman and ITU Triathlon.
