EXPERIENCE
MEETS SCIENCE.
I will help you set realistic goals and expectations for yourself while encouraging you to see and accept challenges so you continue to push yourself to do more than what you thought was possible. I believe in a trusted coach-athlete relationship, as it is vital for your success. When trust is established, you are more likely to follow a training plan, leading to better outcomes and overall success in achieving your athletic goals. I blend personal experience with the principles of exercise science to create training programs that are not only effective but also adaptable, engaging, and tailored to your individual needs. Metrics, coupled with your honest feedback provides the best opportunity for training. I utilize science and metrics with advanced performance software and coach more than just FTP, VO2 max, TSS, IF etc. because there is not just one puzzle piece that makes up your fitness to help you crush your goals! I apply the science using my art of coaching and customize your training.
Life happens, and I know how to balance family, life and work in your training plan so you continue to get fitter, faster, and stronger! I will empower you and educate you on the key data points so you will clearly understand the "why behind the why" of your training. This understanding leads to improved execution of the training and more motivation, which leads to better improvement. I will coach you whether you race or not, do events or just want to ride stronger; it's all the same amount of passion and work on my end. You will get unmatched service, a great experience and learn more about yourself working with me! Ride! Fight! No Surrender!
THE FULL STORY
ABOUT ME AS A COACH.
With over thirty years in the saddle and fifteen years as a USA Cycling Level 1 Expert Coach, I combine deep competitive experience with a rigorous, data-driven approach. My coaching philosophy is rooted in science and precision, using advanced tools like WKO5 data analytics and power training to tailor plans to the individual.
I specialize in road, gravel, MTB, CX, and ultra-endurance distances, having guided athletes to national podiums, state championships, world senior games championships, and victories in grueling events like RAAM (Race Across America, where I coached the 2021 men's overall champion), RAW (Race Across the West), Leadville, and Unbound, just to name a few. My methodology focuses on the "minimal effective dose" concept: inducing just enough stress to maximize gains in speed and strength while ensuring full recovery. Having experience in nutrition and strength/mobility also enables my athletes to achieve success.
Beyond the numbers, I am a firm believer in long-term athlete development. I prioritize teaching my athletes to self-monitor their minds and bodies, fostering a coach-athlete relationship built on absolute trust. I balance elite-level training and performance with the realities of family and professional and personal life.
My mission is simple: to empower, challenge, and motivate you beyond what you thought was possible.
Ride! Fight! No surrender!
