Using Hexis without a training plan

If you’re new to Hexis and don’t yet have a structured training plan, don't worry; you can still get accurate, personalized fueling recommendations.

If you work out or exercise but don't use TrainingPeaks

We highly recommend using TrainingPeaks, as it's a powerful way to track your workouts and fitness, and it's free! Click here to learn how to create a TrainingPeaks account. Once your account is connected, click here to learn how to link it to your Hexis account for automatic syncing of your workouts; this allows Hexis to tailor your daily fueling plans to your training load.

If you don't want a TrainingPeaks account, that's okay! You can still use Hexis by entering your workouts into Hexis manually; click here to learn how. If you start using TrainingPeaks at a later date, simply connect your accounts at that time, and your workouts and fueling data will sync automatically.

If you currently use TrainingPeaks but don't have structured workouts

You can still receive daily nutrition recommendations directly within Hexis even if your planned workouts in TrainingPeaks aren't structured. The first step is to link your TrainingPeaks account with your Hexis account, and then you can choose one of two options for this.

Option 1: Enter your workouts into Hexis manually (click here for instructions).

Option 2. Enter your planned and completed workouts into TrainingPeaks manually. To do this, simply click the + button on the day you want to plan a workout and, in the workout window that opens, enter the planned duration, planned intensity factor (IF), and the time of day (the time is needed for Hexis to schedule your nutrition and fueling recommendations for that day). If you know the planned average power, you can add that, as well. Then, in Hexis, sync with TrainingPeaks to import the planned workout.

Not sure how to calculate intensity factor (IF) for your workouts? Here are our guidelines:

  • Active recovery rides: enter an IF of 0.63 or lower

  • Aerobic endurance rides: enter an IF of 0.64 to 0.69

  • Aerobic power or mixed-intensity aerobic rides: enter an IF of 0.70 to 0.78

  • Tempo workouts: enter an FI of 0.79 to 0.86

  • Lactate threshold workouts or crit/cyclocross races: enter an IF of 0.85 to 0.98

After you complete your workout, upload your actual workout file into TrainingPeaks (or enter your completed metrics manually) and refresh Hexis to pull in the completed workout to refine the day’s nutrition targets.

If you don't currently exercise or work out

If you don't currently have an exercise regime or are not exercising on a particular day, Hexis will use your profile settings to give you the appropriate energy and macronutrient targets.
