Winter group coaching FAQ: What's included and what else do I need to pay for?

Updated: Oct 21

When people ask about the BaseCamp winter group coaching program, two common questions come up: What's included in the price? and Are there any extra costs? Here's everything you need to know.

Is the program a one-time payment?

Yes, your payment for winter group coaching is for the full 16-week program. There is no reoccurring charge or fee.

What's included in the price?

The full 16-week program currently costs $499 total (that works out to about $125 per month). This is a one-time payment and covers all of the core elements:

  • Training – A structured 16-week plan designed and written by Coach Tim Cusick to progressively build your fitness

  • Strength – Integrated strength workouts from Menachem Brodie and Lori Thomson to complement your cycling and prevent injury

  • Nutrition – Guidance and support from Dr. Namrita Brooke, including fueling strategies that sync with your training

  • Mental Performance – Learning sessions led by mental performance coach Carrie Jackson focused on building the mindset skills that improve training and racing outcomes

In short, the core program is complete: training, strength, nutrition, and mental performance are all included.

What apps do I need?

BaseCamp integrates with several apps to deliver the program:

  • TrainingPeaks Premium – The core platform where your plan, workouts, and progress live. This is included in the $499 program price.

  • Hexis – An app for nutrition tracking that integrates with your workouts in TrainingPeaks. A free trial is provided for new Hexis subscribers.

  • Circles – Our standalone community app for discussion, questions, and support. This is included in the $499 program price.

  • Zwift – The platform we use for group rides (though you can execute the program outdoors, on any online virtual ride program, or a standalone trainer; it's your choice). Zwift is not included in the $499 price and as of this writing costs $21.99 per month. Group rides are a big part of the BaseCamp experience, but you can also do all your training in TrainingPeaks Virtual (included at no extra cost) if you prefer not to use Zwift.

Optional custom upgrades

BaseCamp offers opportunities to go deeper if you want more customized support:

  • Custom strength training – Athletes with special needs (such as past injuries or muscular imbalances) can purchase a strength assessment and custom strength training plan.

  • Custom virtual bike fit - You can purchase a virtual bike fit to optimize your position, improve comfort, and ensure you're riding efficiently.

  • Boot camps – Short, focused, four-week deep dives into specific topics like mental performance. Boot camps include extra live sessions, interactive discussions, and a workbook for guided learning.

These upgrades are optional. Most athletes find the core program provides everything they need.

Discounts and partner benefits

All BaseCamp athletes receive access to members-only Locker Room on our website, which open in mid November. Here you'll find discount codes for gear, nutrition, and events.

The bottom line

For $499 one time payment total, you receive:

  • Expertly designed training plans

  • Integrated strength training

  • Nutrition guidance and tools

  • Mental performance support

  • A motivating community of athletes and coaches

  • Access to these apps: TrainingPeaks Premium, Hexis, TrainingPeaks Virtual

The only likely extra cost is if you choose to use Zwift for group rides (currently $21.99 per month). Everything else you need to succeed is already included.
