BaseCamp athlete Debbie Kirkhus shared her experience at the 2025 Berkshire Backroad Gravel Grinder (B2G2) in Massachusetts.
This was a true grassroots gravel grinder in the beautiful Berkshires in Massachusetts, complete with PB&J on white bread at the rest stop and lots of dirty riders at the end.
There were single track sections, rocks, stumps and some thick mud (yes I got stuck once), a few small creeks to cross (one I actually rode through), and some sections of hike a bike. This was more new territory for me for sure. I have a whole new respect for mountain bikers.
Amazing views, and the wooded sections felt like I was riding through an enchanted forest. This is such a beautiful area in Massachusetts.
There were 19 climbs total, some had sections of 20+% and were exhausting. I used cadence and breathing strategies to push through as best as I could. An amazing and fun experience!
Great Job.
