BaseCamp athlete Debbie Kirkhus shared her experience at the 2025 Farmer's Daughter Gravel Grinder in New York.
BaseCamper swarm at The Farmer's Daughter Gravel Grinder in Chatham, NY!
This was my big spring event that I have been training for with Coach Greg for the last couple of months. 60+ miles with almost 6200 ft of elevation. All of the training, planning, pacing work (especially on hills), breathing techniques and fueling strategies really paid off.
The weather held up perfectly, it was overcast and cool. The gravel roads were in great shape given the amount of rain we have had in the Northeast. It was such well supported event, great fuel stops, and an awesome vibe throughout the day.
I was honored to be able to meet and ride with Coach Karen for a while. (Truth be told, it was more like hugging her wheel). She was awesome. I also met Rebecca Bishop at the after party, which was cool.
It was fun to ride with my friend Bob, who is always up for an adventure up north!
