Kathy's story: Rebecca's Private Idaho

BaseCamp athlete Kathy Peters shared her experience at the 2025 Rebecca's Private Idaho gravel bike race in Idaho.

I made it to Ketchum, Idaho, in time for the racer meeting, but had to settle into the elevation and altitude. Took part in the Baked Potato Event on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

It was perfect weather. I made it to the 43 mile cut-off with 3 minutes to spare, however when I got to the 81 miles cut-off; they had closed it early. Didn't get to do the entire course, but I still got 100.5 miles in and loved every minute of it (washboards and all). Rebecca was an awesome host, and the entire event was a celebration of gravel cycling and riders. I actually came in second to last, but I was glad to still have the fortitude and fitness to participate in this epic race.
