Mike's story: ABD Fall Fling Al Stern Road Race

BaseCamp athlete Mike Adsit shared his experience at the 2025 ABD Fall Fling Al Stern Road Race in Illinois.

Another podium medal for Team BaseCamp! Road race this morning. St Anne, IL. 2nd place. Miserable conditions. Nasty winds. Then rain. Actual course is 10.9 miles but a long 3-mile fast rollout to start. Got shelled off a mixed-age lead group early, so basically a TT into head and cross winds. Guy that beat me in my age group was like 5’-4” and 130 lbs. Tiny! Earned this one!

Funny medal. Al Stern, the race sponsor is apparently a Chicago bike racing legend from the 1970-80s.

Michigan State Time Trial Championships next Sunday, to end this racing season.
