Sue's story: Gravel Worlds

BaseCamp athlete Sue Hageman shared her experience at the 2025 Lauf Gravel Worlds bike race in Nebraska.

I have to say this was the most inspirational and exciting event I have ever had! The BaseCamp community and support were incredible! I couldn't ask for anything better, other than being there Thursday-Sunday, instead of Friday am-Saturday mid afternoon.

My heart was/is full. ❤️ It was a pleasure and a delight to meet you IRL. I so wished I could have spent more time with each of you. Some BCers I didn't see at all.

I rode the 35ish ride due to a foot issue. I was happy to complete the miles and hills without much pain, and I can walk today!! Everyone's joy, happiness, and encouragement carried me through. I never once complained or was discouraged during the ride. I was high on adrenaline and excitement of seeing you all at the end of your rides.

I hope you all had safe travels on your way home.

I will definitely sign up for a camp next year!!! See you all virtually in November!!!
