BaseCamp athlete Beth Huffaker shared her experience at the 2025 Unbound Gravel bike race in Kansas.
It was a fast course this year and I managed to finish mid pack! I was rolling right along until…mud! We trudged along for a while until we hit the water crossing, that part was fun! That was quickly followed by four of the five climbs which I had planned on taking some time to get through. I had to walk the first two but then made it up Kahola and the one after.
A quick stop to top off water at 40 miles, 15 more to go! I was rolling along just fine, grateful for the strength plan Menachem set up for me which has eliminated my back and neck pain! Then…what’s this? I can’t pedal…WTH? I’ve never cramped up before but I did today! I limped in the last few miles and had to walk the last climb where they were handing out hot dogs at the top. Are you kidding me? Who wants a hot dog at that point in the day? 🤣🤣
All in all a good day on the bike though!
Big thanks to Menachem Brodie for getting me ready to go today!! 😍
