BaseCamp athlete Bruce Bunn shared his experience at the 2026 Farmer's Daughter Gravel Grinder bike ride in New York.
This was an noncompetitive event with a brutal course of 64 miles and 6,316 feet of climbing. Included were 2 sections of class 4 singletrack that were very challenging, including a steep technical climb over roots and rocks near the end. The aid stations were phenomenal with coffee cake, artisan bread, and Mexican chocolate cake as some of the offerings. There was a wonderful taco bar and a craft beer at the end. The weather was wonderful but a bit hotter than usual for this time of year, making hydration and electrolyte replacement a key part of making the ride enjoyable. I felt absolutely great during the ride with just the right hydration and fueling to feel strong to the finish.
