BaseCamp athlete Dana Filkowski shared a day's bike ride around San Francisco with friends.
138 mile Tour de San Francisco Bay. Windy bucket list ride starting in Berkeley and making great use of the Bay Trail. Urban riding south from Oakland to Milpitas got us to the West side of the Bay. Then north through Palo Alto, hilly Woodside (Robert's Market for sandwiches!), past Crystal Springs reservoir and Hillsborough to Milbrae. Got to South SF by riding through huge SFO properties. In SF's SoMa district we passed Chase Center, navigated crowds of baseball fans getting to a Giants game, and rode under the Bay Bridge to the Ferry Building. Then the Embarcadero took us through tourists at Pier 39 to the Marina and Crissy Field. Crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. Then passed houseboats in Sausalito to Larkspur, across the Richmond / San Rafael Bridge to catch the Bay Trail and return to Berkeley. Epic day of riding.
