Kathy's story: Loudoun 1725 Gravel Grinder

BaseCamp athlete Kathy Peters shared her experience at the 2025 Loudoun 1725 Gravel Grinder in Virginia.

I attended the Loudoun 1725 Gravel Grinder as my first event as a BaseCamp Explore Team member. It was an awesome day despite the pouring rain and less than perfect conditions. No real good pictures from that day due to the rain until a mud shot after the event. I had a solid 60 mile ride that day thanks to my coach, Lorri Lee Lown, who encouraged me to look at this as a race simulation ride. I still can't believe what a person will do when you put a number on.
