Kim's story: Ride for the Troops

BaseCamp athlete Kim Pzegeo shared her experience at the 2025 Ride for the Troops bike ride in Massachusetts.

This weekend's Ride for the Troops was a special one—it's hosted by the bike shop my dad works for, so it's always a bit of a family affair! It was awesome to roll with friends, meet some new faces, and soak in a super fun day that had a little bit of everything: a touch of spice, a dose of chill, and plenty in between.

I grew up riding many of these roads, but I haven't lived in the area for the past eight years, so it was pretty cool to see all the new PRs pop up and make fresh memories on my old North Shore routes. The second half definitely brought some character-building headwinds (okay, maybe more than a little!), but crossing the finish line knowing the event doubled last year's fundraising total made it all worth it.

Small event, big heart—and can't wait to come back for the next one!
