Lori's story: Break the Cycle Des Moines

BaseCamp athlete Lori Githens shared her experience at the 2025 Break the Cycle Des Moines challenge ride in Iowa.

BaseCamp for the win again! 100 miles to fight human trafficking, 40 in a soaking rain. But I was strong to the end. Our group got separated the last 20 miles and I rode hard thinking I was dropped only to find out I was up front chasing after another lone wolf! I pulled the group through probably the toughest section of the course. I was told over and over how strong of a rider I was (by the rest of the group that was trying to catch up with ME...burning matches trying to catch up with THEM). I feel strong...for my age. But it feels good!
