Lynn's story: Seven Springs Gravel Ride

BaseCamp athlete Lynn Botelho shared her experience at the Flat Tire Company Seven Springs Gravel Ride in Pennsylvania.

I felt great and super happy to be "off the leash" and ride hard and free. Enjoying this reset while I have it and looking forward to building again. I rode with the 2nd fastest group. 33 miles and 4,100 vert. There were 9 guys, one I knew and one it turns out that we have a mutual friend. Nice to be towards the pointy end of the guys. :) The terrain was very technical. Neil's run descent could not have been driven up in a regular jeep. Lots and lots of rocks and ruts. It was so sort of place you wished you had full suspension. It was a hoot! I dabbed down twice but wasn't one of the ones who flipped or walked. One long gravel climb that I just missed finishing by 20 yards, as I drifted too far right and ended up spinning out. Still working on that pedal stroke. One note, this wasn't for a beginner. The weather was perfect to ride up to the top of the ski resort, twice. Not too hot nor humid. This was my first time with this group and they were pretty darn friendly and fun. Thinking about their October Ohiopyle ride, although that will be even more technical.
