Pete's story: Flying Wheels Summer Century

BaseCamp athlete Pete Holm shared his experience at the 2025 Flying Wheels Summer Century bike race in Washington.

Flying Wheels is an early season century ride. It is used as a training ride for the STP (Seattle to Portland) ride. This year’s ride was cold and rainy. While riding I thought it was a slow day. After I got back and checked the data, it turned out to be one of the faster times on this route. I guess cold and rain alters our perception of speed and effort.
