BaseCamp athlete Pete Holm shared his experience at the 2025 RAMROD (Ride Around Mt Rainier in One Day) bike ride in Washington.
RAMROD is one of the classic hill climbing rides in the PNW. With 10,000-foot elevation over 160 miles, it is one of the more challenging rides in the area.
This year there was road work in Mt Rainier park, so the route didn't do the traditional climb up to Paradise. There was also a section of about 5 miles of gravel due to work on the road that was on the route. The alternative was a climb up to the Crystal Mountain Ski area. That accomplished the goal of getting elevation but missed some of the fun and views of riding on the mountain. Overall a fun ride with a bunch of friends.
