BaseCamp athlete Shannon Scanlon shared her experience at the 2026 Appalachian Journey bike race in Virginia with her husband, Den.
Appalachian Journey was a duo event and our 1st race of the season. The goal was to just complete and beat last year's time for the 70-mile distance. The Blue Ridge elevation gave us some challenges, but winter BaseCamp training provided the fitness we needed to accomplished our goal, finishing 12 minutes faster than last year's time.
Floyd Family Campground and Gravel Biking. I rode last years fall event with my sister. Lots of stories to tell about that event. So pretty there. Very challenging. Congrats to both of you.
