Yun Yi's story: Belgian Waffle Ride CA

BaseCamp athlete Yun Yi shared her experience at the 2025 Belgian Waffle Ride CA in San Diego, California.

Teehee! First Belgian Waffle in San Deigo ✅️

All 106 miles with 7500 climbing was a beast and certain technical sections had me SENDING it! Traveling from Hawaii to these races with time changes rocks me but I dug deep and finished right under the cutoff time even with a huge bottle neck on signletrack in the beginning that prob took us nearly an hour to get through.

Wasn't on my A game as i was recovering from the respiratory crud that's been all over and the midway station nearly had a few of us just turn back threatening us with no more support since we were were so late....so we just stuffed our pockets and drank a few cokes and trudged on enjoying the ride thinking we may not even make it back on time. Alas we did as we kept at it....were one of the 21/27 females that finished and 2/3rds of the 300 men completed this distance.

Mahalo BaseCamp for giving me the base to do these races and boy do I love my Panache kit. Do they need ambassadors? These long sleeves are perfect for Hawaii! And these pocket bibs can handle all the SNAX!! 🍰🎂🥮🧁 😁🌺🤟

Oh and which race should I plan on for the fall?? I'm thinking either Mammoth Gravel or Gravel Worlds??
