Aaron's story: Tour of Georgia Gran Fondo

BaseCamp athlete Aaron White shared his experience at the 2025 Tour of Georgia Gran Fondo in Helen, Georgia.

My friend Nishant (recent BaseCamp alum) and I took on the Tour of Georgia Fondo in April. I challenged him to do the race to keep momentum after BaseCamp finished in March. The ride was a lot of fun, and the weather was incredible.

The race was a timed segments format. That allowed us to go hard on the segments at our best pace, then regroup and ride most of the course together. One segment had two miles at 12% grade. It was absolutely killer! I used all the tools I've learned from BaseCamp and made it through.

Ultimately, I finished 8th in my age category and 21st overall for the medio route: 67 miles and 7000 feet of climbing. Nishant learned some valuable lessons on nutrition and pacing.

My next event is the 109 mile VTGF. Last year my goal was completion. This year it's the best I can on the segments. I'll keep an eye out for Coach Greg!
